False nails give a long nail look without having to wait for them to grow out. They are easy to apply, so you don’t need to go to a salon. You just have to buy false nails and their adhesive, and you will be ready to apply them. Then you can shape and decorate them in the way you like the most!

Gather your supplies.
Anyone can apply false nails at home, but before you begin, you will need some special supplies. To apply your false nails, you will need:

  • artificial nails
  • adhesive gel for nails
  • nail clipper
  • nail file

Follow the safety instructions that come with your false nails. False nails and nail sticker must include safety instructions for proper use. Please read these instructions carefully and follow the product safety precautions.

  • For example, some nail products recommend use in areas that are well ventilated.

Choose the size of your false nails. Examine the sizes of the false nails and choose the ones that best fit each of your nails. False nails should be wide enough to cover your entire nail, but not too wide as they could overlap the edges of your nails.

  • Try several false nails until you find the one that best fits each finger, and then put them in the order you will use them.

Apply a coat of fixer to your natural nails. Adhesive can ruin your nails, but applying a fixative before setting your false nails will help protect them. However, keep in mind that there is a possibility that false nails will not adhere firmly to your natural nails.

  • If you are concerned about losing the strength of your natural nails, apply a coat or two of clear fixer before placing your false nails.

Apply the adhesive gel. Most false nail kits include an adhesive, but if you can, buy another. Grab a false nail by the tip and apply a line of adhesive gel over the indented area of the false nail.

  • If the nail does not have an indented part, then apply the adhesive gel along the curved edge of the nail. This edge will need to overlap the tip of your natural nail.
  • Keep in mind that adhesive nail gel sticks quickly and is very strong. Make sure you’ve grasped the correct nail before pressing it against your finger.
  • If you make a mistake, apply a nail polish remover that contains acetone to the tip of the false nail. This will help it peel off so you can remove it and start over.

Apply pressure to the nail. Press the false nail against your natural nail to make sure the adhesive sticks firmly to your nail. If the false nail has grooves, you should push the nail back so that the edge meets the end of your natural nail. If there are no grooves, directly apply the false nail approximately 7 centimeters (¼ inch) from the end of your nail.

  • Press the nail for five seconds to allow the adhesive gel to stick well.
  • Repeat this process with all your nails.
